Aeon has different statuses to safely keep track of the physical location of boxes/books within Special Collections as they move through our spaces. "Awaiting Request Processing" means that the materials you requested are stored in our onsite closed stacks, and will be pulled when you arrive in the Reading Room. If you are not able to visit us in person, please email spcollections@psu.edu and ask about our limited remote services (staff-assisted research and scanning).

Here is a list of common request statuses that you may see in your Aeon account when you are working with materials held in onsite storage:

  1. Awaiting Request Processing- the material you requested is onsite and won't be pulled until you arrive (in person research) or email (remote research)
  2. In Item Retrieval- we are pulling your material for in-person viewing or remote services
  3. Item on Hold- you have asked for us to put your request in the Hold Room for an upcoming or continued research visit
  4. Awaiting Item Reshelving- your material is in the process of being reshelved
  5. Item Reshelved/Request Finished- your material has been reshelved in our onsite closed stacks

For materials held in our annex (offsite) storage, you will see different statuses for your requests:

  1. Awaiting Annex Retrieval- your request has been received and is noted as being held in annex storage
  2. Awaiting Annex Delivery- your material has been pulled for delivery to our Reading Room
  3. Item on Hold- your material has been delivered and is being held for research in our Reading Room
  4. Awaiting Annex Return- your material is being sent back to annex storage
  5. Item Reshelved/Request Finished- your material has been reshelved in our annex storage
