Streaming videos available through Kanopy, Swank, and some other sources are licensed for limited time periods. It is a good idea to check license expiration dates before assigning a video for a course.

To check license expiration dates for videos, search for the title in the library catalog. Click on the title to view the full record. The license term will be displayed under "Notes". If you don't see a license term, contact the Music & Media Center. To request a license renewal, contact your liaison librarian.

For Swank titles only:  You can also see license expiration dates for movies licensed through Swank in the Swank portal for Penn State-licensed movies. Find your movie, and select "watch." The license expiration date is displayed beneath the video player. To request a Swank license renewal, use the online request form.

Videos available on Alexander Street Press and Docuseek are accessed through a subscription and do not have individual licenses.

The library sometimes has access to a video from multiple sources. To check for alternative access, search the catalog for the video title. If the video is part of a series, try searching both the series title and the episode title.
